Lunar New Year Celebration

Celebrate the year of the tiger with a special lion dance, drag queen performance, and dumpling party!

Join millions of people around the world in celebrating Lunar New Year but do it Local Roots style! As a Chinese owned small business, we're so honored and excited to share our culture with you.

This is the year of the water tiger, a symbol of strength, exorcising evils, and braveness. We will have a special lion dance to bring in the new year and to bring good luck to our new store in Carroll Gardens.

The festivities begin at 2pm sharp with the lion dance, followed by a performance by Chinese drag queen Miss Juicy Liu. Then you can join us in our open kitchen and make dumplings as a group.

We encourage you to come early and grab lunch from our Chinese farm-to-table cafe (now serving local beer!). Learn about what foods are eaten during this holiday and what they symbolize while you enjoy your meal. We have limited indoor seating so we encourage you to come early to grab a spot.

This event is all ages. Traditionally, children are given red envelopes with money; kids will receive red envelopes with gift cards to Local Roots while supplies last at our Lunar New Year celebration.
