The Eco Salon

The Eco Salon

How can we use human-informed stories to better understand issues around food sovereignty and the climate crisis? How can we take a multi-disciplinary approach to healing our Earth? Join Local Roots, Sustain Frame, Sustainable Sabs and special guest Amber Tamm as we lead you through The Eco Salon.

Participants from varying disciplines will select a working group which will be given an assignment. Discussions will be led by the group leader with a goal to come up with tangible actionable steps towards fixing the issue assigned to the group.

Example of working group) How can we help consumers avoid greenwashing?
The group of graphic designers, marketers, artists, poets, and Earth enthusiasts discuss the main issues around this topic and might come up with an infographic that explains different food labels.

The evening will include:

- farm-to-table small bites courtesy of Local Roots
- cocktails courtesy of Mount Gay Rum and nonalcoholic pre-biotic beverages courtesy of Mayawell
- discussion led by industry expert
- networking with like-minded NYers

Who should participate?
We encourage anyone who is passionate about making a positive impact on the food system and environmental issues, and strongly encourage graphic designers, marketers, social media gurus, writers, painters, poets, (creative types!), as well as fitness instructors, politically active individuals, etc to join.

What is a salon?
A salon is gathering of people held by an inspiring host or hostesses. During the gathering, they amuse one another and increase their knowledge through conversation. These gatherings often consciously followed Horace's definition of the aims of poetry, either to please or to educate.

The Eco Salon is proudly sponsored by AllBirds, producers of sustainable shoes and clothing.

About the hosts:
